Beautiful Dental Crown And Bridge Design
Dr. Richard C. Ribeiro can design and place a dental crown and bridge at our Clarksville, TN, office to restore the form, function, and appearance of your smile. Our crowns and bridges are made from durable and natural-looking materials such as porcelain, IPS e.max, and zirconia. Dr. Ribeiro uses the latest dental technology and techniques to craft the most beautiful and lifelike restorations possible. His use of advanced techniques also minimize patient discomfort throughout the entire process.
What Are Dental Crowns and Bridges?
A dental crown is essentially a cap that fits over your tooth. Crowns cover teeth that have suffered damage due to oral trauma or severe decay. This strengthens the tooth, restoring full functionality, while also protecting the tooth from further damage. Dental crowns come in a variety of different materials. Dr. Ribeiro has chosen to offer porcelain, e.max, or zirconia crowns to ensure patients achieve the most beautiful smile possible. The crowns are custom made to fit precisely over the damaged tooth, and the color is also customizable to ensure a radiant smile.
Dental bridges are used to replace a small number of missing teeth in a row. Traditional bridges consist of two crowns with one or more artificial teeth attached in the middle. The crowns fit over the teeth adjacent to the gap of missing teeth. As with dental crowns, bridges are available in a variety of natural and durable materials. Each bridge is custom-made to ensure comfort and functionality, and to enhance aesthetics.
Fitting and Preparation
Whether you are getting a crown or bridge, there is some preparation involved. To make sure you are comfortable throughout your procedure, Dr. Ribeiro first will inject a local anesthetic into the treatment area. If you need a dental crown, he will begin by removing any damaged or decayed parts of the tooth. Then, for both crowns and bridges, he will reshape the teeth. This ensures there is enough room for a comfortable and secure fit of the restoration.
Our crowns and bridges are made from durable and natural looking materials such as porcelain, e.max, and zirconia.
Once he has sufficiently reshaped the teeth, he will take impressions. In some cases, he will send the impressions to an outside dental lab. At the lab, a technician will create your custom bridge or crown to Dr. Ribeiro’s specifications. It takes about two weeks to get your final restoration back from the lab. However, we also offer same-day crowns fabricated with our in-office milling unit to fit your busy schedule.
Placement of Dental Crowns or Bridges
If we receive your restoration from the lab, you will return for a second appointment. At this time, Dr. Ribeiro will check the color, shape, and fit of the restoration. The placement of a crown or bridge is usually painless, so no anesthesia is needed. He will apply cement to the restoration and then fix it firmly in place with gentle pressure. For same-day crowns, your crown can be placed in one appointment.
Benefits of These Quality Restorations
Both dental crowns and bridges offer numerous benefits. Crowns eliminate any pain caused by a decayed or damaged tooth. They also save your natural tooth and protect the tooth from further damage. Bridges fill a gap of missing teeth to restore the function and appearance of your smile. Both restorations come in beautiful, lifelike materials so they are virtually indistinguishable from your other teeth.
